How the Low-carb Craze Helps Vegetarians

CNN.com - Experts slam low-carb trend as rip-off - June 23, 2004

I'm exempt from the low-carb craze since I don't eat meat, but nonetheless, I'm fascinated by the attention surrounding it.

A nice by-product of the low-carb craze is that manufacturers are adding soy and wheat gluten protein to all kinds of products, like chips, bread and cereal. The low-carb Total rocks - it has 13 grams of protein. I feel full after eating a small bowl of it. (I use my Teletubbies bowl for breakfast cereal.) Certain individuals are always accusing vegetarians of not getting enough protein, but now that it's available in previously carb-rich foods, that argument is defunct.

  1. Yeah, now we can whine about you not getting the right *kinds* of protein
