I saved $387!

Pioneer Press | 06/01/2004 | Farmington schools nix operating-fund levy

Great news! Since Farmington isn't imposing this levy, the average Farmingtion resident will save $387 next year. I'm going to spend my savings on a new collar for Mystic the kitty (her collar is pretty worn) and put the rest in a money market account.

  1. Eh, I kind of wish the schools would take in a few extra bucks. Teachers are underpaid and unhappy for the most part. So even if the dough isn't going to buy new materials, like brand new computers or basketballs, they should give it to the teachers. They need raises like everybody else.

People just don't seem to understand that taxes actually go to something. The Republican propaganda has permeated the impressionable minds of middle America enough to make them believe that it's just some machine sucking up there money and doing nothing with it.

I'd happily get my taxes raised if it went to something like education. That improves the quality of life for all of us!
