Adventures in Chi-Town, Part 1

To show off the van's fresh new look in the big city, I drove her to Chicago a couple weekends ago. It was an amazing trip. Perro came along for the ride, and we stayed in a hotel with designated rooms for pets. Pets even stay for free! He had a great time nosing around the fire hydrant outside the hotel side door. We spent Saturday at the Museum of Science and Industry (well, just Joey and I actually went into the museum. Perro had to wait in the van.)

In the Transportation area there was a huge train set, looping around a tiny version of Chicago, then traveling through a miniature countryside to Seattle. There were small towns in the countryside, and even a couple of tiny trailer parks on the wrong side of the tracks.

As part of an on-going genetics experiment, there were rare breeds of baby chicks hatching at the museum. Some of the chicks were very tired after pecking their way out of the shell, and they were just flopped down on the floor of the incubator, resting.

We left the museum about 5 PM and headed to downtown Chicago for a little excitement. We planned a big dinner at a fancy-shmancy restaurant.

Check back for another update on Chicago - the fun is just beginning!
