While searching for tips on making over my Caravan, I discovered that other van owners like me have formed the largest automotive on-line community. It turns out the Caravan is really popular. Considering the derisive comments and snickers I've gotten when showing off my van, I'm suprised. I've decided to join the on-line club. It might do my automotive self-esteem wonders.
It wasn't until I joined Micro Machines, the international Ford Festiva club, that I really started to love my Festiva. Once I joined a group of people who liked to chat about their Festies every day, and trick them out with coffee can exhaust pipes, I began to see my Festiva in a new light. I started to appreciate not just the utility and economy of the Festiva, but also the modern beauty of it's box-like design. I also stopped feeling sorry for myself because I lost my Del Sol convertible. What did the Del Sol have that the Festie lacked? (Other than about 100 extra horsepower.) It had a big, fat car payment, and the little Festie let me be payment-free for four years. Sigh. Even though I love the Caravan and the Echo, I still miss my Festiva. Rust in peace, Little Red.
