Sea Turtles in the News!

In today's Pioneer Press, there is an article written by a guy who has first-hand experience helping a baby sea turtle into the water and collecting turtle eggs for the hatchery. I loved his description of a turtle laying eggs, huge tears streaming down her face as she burrowed into the sand. A legend says sea turtles cry when laying their eggs because they will never see their babies. If you read this article, be prepared to get choked up when the machete-wielding poacher turns an innocent turtle on its back. I needed almost needed a Kleenex.
