On Sunday I ate a satisfying salmon lunch at the IKEA cafeteria, and then I headed out to enjoy the sunny weather. I cruised down to Kenyon in the Echo. There is a hip IGA grocery store in downtown Kenyon. (Well, it's not really hip, but it's always deserted, so there's no chance of running over someone with your cart.) I bought buns and salad to go with the soy brats I grilled for dinner.
Then I drove east on 60. I was thirsty and stopped at the Farm Country Co-op in Wanamingo for a bottle of water. On the lawn in front of the store is a huge wood-paneled obelisk with yellow plastic letters attached to it which spell out www.wanamingo.net. So after I'd perused the co-op's selection of T-shirts picturing wild turkeys, and paid for my water, I headed home to check out Wanamingo on the Web.
Even over my dial-up connection, the Wanamingo website loads up quickly. The website is informative. I learned where to get a fashionable haircut in Wanamingo and I'm looking forward to attending the upcoming Syttende Mai 2005 festival. Some of the exciting festival events include a troll hunt, an Uff Da parade, and wool carding, capped off by a Lutefisk dinner at the local church. I've never attended a troll hunt before.
Wanamingo is not a bad looking little town (of course, it doesn't hold a candle to the beauty of downtown Farmington, but I digress.) One of the Norwegian founders of Wanamingo,Toge Talla, described Wanamingo as such: "Three parts of the world have I lived in and wandered through many countries, but never have I seen a more beautiful sight. Here I will live and die."
