Are You Covered in Soap Curd?

Here is an exciting description of how soap curd develops, courtesy of Wikipedia:

"Using soap on the body in hard water can cause the formation of a scum often referred to as 'curd.' The formation of scum and curd is caused when calcium and magnesium form insoluble salts with anions (usually the stearates and other higher carboxylates found in soaps. This curd remains on the skin even after rinsing, clogging pores and coating body hair."

Great, I've been covered in curd since last year. Perro and Whippy are covered in curd, too, since I've been bathing them in hard water. Curd is probably clinging all over the little pup's fur. If I knew about this soap curd thing, as a responsible pet owner, I would have acted much quicker on installing a water softener.
