My venerable Pontiac 6000 was an '86, but I came across a humorous ad for the 1985 6000. Why did Pontiac make the '85 6000 better than the '84? The ad will answer this burning question.
* Sadly, the answer is "just because", which seems to mirror the current decision making process of domestic automakers. Why do new Dodges have cup holders that simultaneously heat and cool drinks? Just because. Even though everyone has insulated travel mugs these days, someone at Dodge said, "Wouldn't it be cool if the cup holder heated your coffee?" Suddenly your cup holder is a microwave.
