Return from the Couch

Since last Thursday, I've been crouching on the couch, felled by the flu. Yesterday was the lowest point of my journey through this bout of the flu. While I was at home watching "The Gift", a movie worthy of a Lifetime Television for Women award, my co-workers were celebrating a good quarter of work over all-you-can-eat sushi. I was tempted to fuel myself with Sudafed and Theraflu yesterday morning, and show up at work because I didn't want to miss out on the fish fest. But I thought everyone would think it was pretty gross when I kept coughing and sneezing over the California tuna rolls. Also, I couldn't really talk very well. I could only make croaking sounds because of a bad sore throat. Croaking sounds just wouldn't go over well at the party.

So now I'm a bit better, and back on the job. I'm just finishing up my soup lunch right now. I hope I feel better tomorrow - what if I have to miss St. Patrick's Day? The next town north of Farmington is Rosemount, and it's an Irish town. They have the best St. Paddy's Day celebration ever. I'll really be sorry if I have to miss sushi and St. Patrick's Day, all because I'm stuck on the couch with the flu.

At least the pets have been enjoying having me around extra these past few days. Since I was too sick to sit up for part of the day on Monday, Beaner hopped up and laid down on my chest, and Perro curled up on my ankles. I felt like a giant pet bed.
