So the giant annoucement I've alluded to is - you have the chance to win a sealed, exclusive copy of the Ozzfest 2006 CD, available only at the shows! The catch is, you have to read my post to find out how.
In the midst of Ozzfest, as System of a Down took the stage, I began pondering the act of thanking others. Unearth thanked us, and Ozzy and Zakk Wylde blessed us. Disturbed called us to do a good act, and thanked us for listening to their request.
I began to think about whom I haven’t thanked. Sadly, it’s a pretty long list.
But I’m going to get sappy and name of few of those folks right here, right now. A great, loud thank you to my middle school English teacher, Ms. Overvig. Without the recommendation she wrote to University of Wisconsin-Superior for me, I would have missed out on the best weeks of my life. If I hadn’t gone to college before I started high school, I don’t think I’d have made it through. I knew as soon as I got to college, I'd be engrossed in the classes. Ms. Overvig encouraged me to do something really challenging, and it gave me the security blanket of hope that I clung to through high school.
I also want to thank my pals Jason Samuels, Irene Sherlin, Cheesy, Leoj of the Leojmobile, and my little brother, Adam Larson. I know some of you can’t read this, but I want to say thanks anyway, because I didn’t get the chance before. You guys all stuck with me through tough times and selflessly stood up for me.
So now we get to the part of this sappy post that touches you, dear reader. At Ozzfest a promotional guy kindly gave me several CDs, so I have an extra sealed copy of the Ozzfest 2006 CD, available only at the show. If you’d like to win this CD, reply to this post with a comment, thanking someone important to you. I’ll randomly pick a winner from the posts. In addition to writing your coment, please email me so I can provide you with your CD should you win. Don’t worry about content or spelling. Ozzy doesn’t worry about that stuff.

ReplyDeleteI found you purely by chance, clicking next blog, and there you were sitting next to me in cyberspace. I'm glad I did. I chose this quote from your post cos it resonates nicely with my own life at the moment. I've never heard of Ozzfest but I liked your candid account - thank you. Oh, and I'll nominate my thanks to blogspot also - cheesy, I know - but indirectly it provided for me a great support when things were dark and grim! Cheers
Wow! Thanks for your nice comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the post. I can't believe that other people are clicking into my site, or that I'd be the next in the list on Blogspot. I feel honored.
ReplyDeleteyou're welcome!
ReplyDeleteI don't mean to be opportunistic, but who won the CD?
- wink
I give thanks to Joey Belladonna for busting his ass, and playing solo for years for inspiring others to keep playing. He even played in a 3 piece, singing and playing drums at the same time to have it pay off by being reunited with Anthrax. That's the kind of inspirations all musicians need because it's a lot of work with only a the slightest chance for success. I've been to 8 out of 10 Ozzfests and missed out on the cd this year, so hook me up. Use the contact link on HomepageSeek.com to reach me.
