You may recall my previous post about making a run for the Apple Valley border every day to use the Park'n'Ride. Apple Valley has been threatening to prevent border crossing by requiring resident permits at the Park'n'Ride, so that south-of-the-border Farmington residents such as myself couldn't ride the bus.
The Echo is scared that I might have to drive to work - oh no! The Echo hates rush hour traffic. Sometimes an Expedition or a Lincoln Navigator tries to drive right over the Echo on 35 W. The Echo gets really scared when a semi sidles up alongside us, but I'm not afraid. That's what living life on the edge is all about. People used to say to me that the Festiva was really dangerous because it's such a small car. Hey, I have to rebel somehow. I could take up smoking Marlboros, but driving a Festiva is safer and a lot more glamorous.
Luckily, Rep. Pat Garafalo, an awesome Farmington lawmaker, is trying to get a transportation bill passed with a provision to prevent Apple Valley from discriminating against Park'n'Ride border crossers. If Gov. Pawlenty signs the bill, Apple Valley won't be able to slap on the permit requirement. This will allow the Echo to breathe a sigh of relief - no heavy commutes on 35W.
Please give the Echo some piece of mind and ask Gov. Pawlenty to approve this provision. The Echo says, "I'd rather see Mary riding the big public limo instead of driving me all the way to Minneapolis every day."
